This is another fantastic instalment from Ms Kagawa in the Blood of Eden series. The Eternity Cure is a full on adventure and Allie is a fantastic character. As with all of Ms Kagawa’s books, I love the writing style, so easy to read and addictive and this one is no exception to that rule.

Allie survived her meeting with her blood brother, Jackal and is now having nightmares when she sleeps, but they aren’t true nightmares, they are visions of what Kanin is enduring while in the evil hands of Sarren. Allie can feel the pull of her Sire and after leaving Zeke, she is now determined to find Kanin and rescue him from the torturing hands of Sarren.

Following the pull between them, Allie travels surviving off thugs and baddies that she finds along the way. The pull is taking Allie to Old D.C. and once she gets inside the fences, she doesn’t find Kanin waiting for her, but somebody that she thought she left behind. They form a pact and decide to call a truce to their fighting, wanting to find Kanin together and discover a cure for Rabidism. Allie decides not to trust him, but figures two is better than one when confronting the likes of Sarren.

After a close call with the Rabids in Old D.C., the pair travels back to where it all began, New Covington. Allie is a little apprehensive of returning to where she was born twice and doesn’t really want to go back.

Following protocol and trying to be good vampires, they go to check in with the Prince of New Covington. Finding that things have changed, the Fringe is no longer safe to humans or vampires. It appears a new strain of the virus has been released and is creating a new version of rabids, bleeders. These crazy psychotic humans tear their own flesh and try to eat anything they can catch before dying. Having to go underground, they find a guide through the sewers and into the City to see the Prince.

Allie cannot be sure who to trust anymore, can she really trust the Prince even though they both want the same thing? Finding betrayal in the Prince’s tower and love, Allie doesn’t know what she will do, but the only thing she does know is that a cure must be found to stop the bleeders virus from spreading. With no humans, the vampire race cannot survive either.

Will they find a cure for rabidism or the bleeders? Does one really exist? Can Allie find Kanin and stop Sarren from destroying him for good? Can a vampire have a broken heart? What will the next adventure be for Allie?

I really enjoyed the twists and the unexpected turns along Allie’s journey. She really did mature in this one and learned from some of her mistakes, but the biggest lesson of all is to come. She had so many questions that she hasn’t gotten the answers to; she was a little annoying about her feelings and the indecision, but I still love her. Allie has such an attitude and I love her cheekiness when she tries to talk herself out of situations. I cannot wait to read book 3, The Forever Song that will come out next year (a whole year to wait, aarrrggghh!)

4 FANTASTIC VAMPIRE ACTION BOOKS

Book #1 - The Immortal Rules

You can read my 5 book review HERE.

About the Author

Julie Kagawa, the New York Times bestselling author of the Iron Fey and Blood of Eden series was born in Sacramento, California. But nothing exciting really happened to her there. So, at the age of nine she and her family moved to Hawaii, which she soon discovered was inhabited by large carnivorous insects, colonies of house geckos, and frequent hurricanes. She spent much of her time in the ocean, when she wasn’t getting chased out of it by reef sharks, jellyfish, and the odd eel.

When not swimming for her life, Julie immersed herself in books, often to the chagrin of her schoolteachers, who would find she hid novels behind her Math textbooks during class. Her love of reading led her to pen some very dark and gruesome stories, complete with colored illustrations, to shock her hapless teachers. The gory tales faded with time, but the passion for writing remained, long after she graduated and was supposed to get a real job.

To pay the rent, Julie worked in different bookstores over the years, but discovered the managers frowned upon her reading the books she was supposed to be shelving. So she turned to her other passion: training animals. She worked as a professional dogtrainer for several years, dodging Chihuahua bites and overly enthusiastic Labradors, until her first book sold and she stopped training to write full time.

Julie now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where the frequency of shark attacks are at an all time low. She lives with her husband, two obnoxious cats, one Australian Shepherd who is too smart for his own good, and the latest addition, a hyper-active Papillon.

Book Review: The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

Goodreads Summary: Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

What can I say that hasn’t been said before about Julie Kagawa and her Iron Fey series? AMAZING! AWESOME! STUPENDOUS! FANTASTIC! So, I guess you could say that I loved this book and the series. I read book 1, The Iron King a while ago and hadn’t gotten around to reading the rest of the series. When The Lost Prince came out though, I couldn’t help myself and had to read it because everywhere I saw fantastic reviews. After reading it, I got excited again for the series and had to read The Iron Daughter, so I borrowed it from the library.

After surviving the NeverNever and rescuing her little brother from the Iron Fey, Meghan was hoping her life would return to normal. But since she had to make a deal with Ash, he collected and Meghan had to return with him to the Winter Court. Meghan has been held captive and has lost count of the days. Ash hasn’t returned and seems to be avoiding her. The Queen is making her wait, but when finally she has an audience with her, Ash ignores Meghan. Meghan doesn’t know what to think of him, was he just toying with her feelings, Meghan is heartbroken!

The Winter Queen will not believe that the Iron Fey is around everywhere and apparently nobody can find any evidence. The Summer King and Meghan’s Father has come to hand over the season sceptre that will allow winter to come. The Summer King wants his daughter back, but the Queen will not relinquish her and there is uproar.

The sceptre is stolen by Iron fey and they killed Ash’s eldest brother in the process. Meghan was witness and left alive, but the Winter Queen doesn’t believe it was the Iron fey. Meghan is going to be killed and Ash comes to her rescue helping her escape. Meghan is determined to find the sceptre and find the new Iron King and in the process stop a war between Summer and Winter.

Follow along with Meghan as she tries to find her way, fighting with Ash and being in mortal danger at every corner. With the help of some old friends, Puck and the cat Grimalken, plus some new friends, Queen of the Exiles; Meghan tries to fight her way through the Iron fey and discover who is behind it all. The adventure is heightened by the love triangle; Ash is hiding his true feelings and Puck is also vying for Meghans attention.

Julie Kagawa has a fantastic writing style that is so easy to read. When I pick up one of her books, I aaaahhh over how easy and wonderful they are to read. The betrayal, adventure, mystery, romance and humour are just fantastic and with each book I read, I see how Meghan is evolving, maturing and I can’t wait to read more. I cannot decide between Ash and Puck, they are so different, but I can’t help feeling sorry for Puck for always coming off second best. I highly recommend this to all readers, because it is just fantastic.

Title: The Lost Prince
Series: Call of the Forgotten #1
Author: Julie Kagawa
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Release Date: 23rd October 2012
Format: I read the Paperback, but also had e-galley

Wow, this was a highly anticipated book for me, with all the hype over the internet and in bookstores, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had heard so much about The Iron Fey series and I had read The Iron King back in September last year, but I wasn't sure whether I should read this one or not. I recommended The Iron Fey series to my Mum after reading book 1 and she read the whole series within a week; telling me how good the series was. I hadn't had a chance to read books 2 to 4 and when The Lost Prince came around, I was extremely disappointed I hadn't read the remaining books. I had read a review from a fellow blogger that said she also didn't read The Iron Fey series and that it was still a great read, so I bit the bullet and decided to just read it and WOW!

Ethan Chase has been able see the Fey since he was a baby, after his adventures with his sister, Meghan he is now ready to just ignore the whole world and keep to himself. After moving to the city and having to start a new school, Ethan is trying to take each day at a time and not get into trouble again. Ignoring all the rumours about his last school and just trying to not draw attention, but things never seem to go to plan.

There is a kid in school and Ethan rescues him from the school jocks, but he then realises that he is not human, but Fey. This is the beginning of all of Ethan’s troubles! Ethan seems to be followed at every turn and stalked by a nosy school reporter, Kenzie. But when Ethan tries his hardest to use his attitude and turn them away, it doesn't work.

The kid he saved from the jocks disappears and Ethan knows exactly what happened, but not where he was taken to. Strange things happen and the nosy reporter and Ethan are being chased by shadows, creatures that he has never seen before. Ethan’s only choice is to get help from his sister, Meghan in the Iron Kingdom.

Ethan travels to the Iron Kingdom with some help from a talking cat with attitude. He has to try and explain everything to Kenzie; how the Fey world operates and what to expect. Visiting with Meghan isn't what he expects and Ethan needs to find answers.

Follow Ethan on his quest to find his “friend”, find answers and keep Kenzie safe and out of the clutches of Them. Who is the real Lost Prince and why are there still so many secrets between Ethan and Meghan? This is an adventure like no other; creatures are amazing and so detailed you can see them right in front of you. The writing style is so easy to read and so amazing you cannot put it down. I had forgotten how fun it was to read one of Julie Kagawa’s books and can’t wait to pick up another one. It has certainly gotten me excited to read the remaining Iron Fey series books.
