Goodreads:  Quinn Robbins has just returned from spending ten days in Eirentheos, a world she had never known existed. Trying to settle back into her familiar life and establish a relationship with her new boyfriend, Zander, is more of a challenge than she ever dreamed it would be.
Things are just beginning to feel normal again when Thomas shows up in her world, and invites her back to Eirentheos for a royal wedding. She's excited at the chance to reconnect with the people and places she had begun to fall in love with.
What she doesn't realize is just how deeply connected with this new world she might become ... and just what old secrets might be beginning to unravel.
The second book in the beloved Dusk Gate series reconnects Quinn with the charming princes, and the pristine world of Eirentheos. From a beautiful royal wedding to a dangerous rescue mission, Quinn's adventures are about to take her life on a course that will change it forever.

eBook Review: Seeds of Discovery by Breeana Puttroff

Goodreads:  Quinn Robbins' life was everything she thought a teenager's should be. She has good friends, a family that she loves, good grades, and an after-school job she enjoys. And, she's just been asked out by Zander Cunningham, a popular football player and great guy. But one day when driving home after picking up her little sister from the baby-sitter's, she nearly hits a boy who, after running blindly into the street, mysteriously disappears.
The mystery only deepens as she figures out who the boy is; William Rose, a reclusive, awkward boy from school who always has his nose in a pile of books.
As she becomes more aware of his behaviour it becomes more obvious how out of the ordinary William is and how hard he deliberately tries to blend into the background. This only intrigues her more and she finds herself working to find out more about him, and exactly where he keeps disappearing to.

This series is going to be amazing and I cannot wait to read the next. The easy flow of the story and the characters are down to earth, which naturally evolves into a page turner.

Quinn is a typical teenage girl, going to school, having friends and even a potential boyfriend. William is classed as a loner and nobody seems to notice or pay him attention. One day Quinn notices William walking toward a bridge and doesn't understand what he is up to. She sees him a again and her curiosity is piqued. Deciding to follow him, she ends up in another world entirely. Some how she has walked through a gate and into another place.

Quinn is now a guest of this new realm and gets to discover a whole new way of life and adventures.

I highly recommend this to all fantasy readers. The adventures that the reader follows with Quinn is addictive and you can't help but fall for the characters and the world Breeana creates.

The next book in this fabulous series is Roots of Insight.

eBook Review: Tales from Frewyn by Michelle Franklin

Goodreads: The Haanta Series is the longest, ongoing, online romantic fantasy series. Thousands of readers visit the world of the Two Continents to enjoy the daily short stories featuring all their favorite characters from the Haanta Series novels. In between the business of the books, the commander, Rautu, Otenohi, Unghaahi, Leraa, Kai Linaa and Alasdair enjoy some time together in Diras Castle, but as the stories portray, mischief lies in every corner of the keep where spiders, chocolate pies, petulant giants and grouchy cooks abound.

This is another beautifully written and illustrated addition into the series about the Commander and the Den Asaan Rautu.  Michelle Franklin certainly knows how to entertain the reader and build characters.  With this edition full of short stories, the world Michelle has created evolves and causes the reader to want more.

The short stories are hilarious.  Every story has you rolling around the floor laughing at the antics.  They involve the Commander, the Den Asaan Rautu and his brothers, Unghaahi, Otenohi and Obhantaa Leraa and his mate Kai Linaa.

All the short stories are varied in their subjects, but a majority of them are regarding Den Asaan Rautu’s considerable appetite for food and chocolate in particular.  A couple of my favourites would be the Raisin Cake and Make-outs.

Quote from Make-outs at 63% location 2271:

“As the young man watched, he notices the woman in his arms grew vastly intrigued with the giant’s attentive display.  She eagerly watched with unflinching looks, studying the ravening motions of his mouth and eager gropes of his powerful hands.”

The way Den Asaan Rautu is trying to teach the young man by demonstrating how to win the affections of his woman was hilarious and had me laughing for ages.

This is a wonderful addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next instalment.  Michelle Franklin has the perfect balance of humour, romance and drama to allow the reader to follow along easily and fall in love with the characters.

eBook Review: The Magic Carpet by Jodie Brownlee

Goodreads:  Ruby’s mouth was open in a silent scream. She dared to look down as the roofs and treetops dropped away. People walking their dogs in the park shrank to the size of ants. Panic struck her numb.
Ruby is flying! A magic carpet (with attitude) takes her on the adventure of her life to a magical oasis. But a bold misadventure through an underground labyrinth has Ruby andher friends wanted by those in charge. Genies, sand sprites, spells, and dungeons will test all of her powers – including the ones she still doesn’t know she has.

Series:  The Ruby Series book 1
Released:  9th September 2011

This is a very exciting adventure that all children will love.  Jodie has the exquisite talent of creating a world that is real, but has the addition of fantasy fun.  All children and adults alike will want to read this and then dream of flying across the globe on a magic carpet.

Ruby thinks she is an ordinary girl of 11 until she starts to question some funny things that happen around her house.  Her mother, Ann, tells Ruby she is imagining things and of course the teapot runs out, but Ruby knows her mother didn’t refill the teapot even after filing 20 cups.  For Ruby’s 12th birthday she is given a carpet from her Grandmother and is stored in the attic.  But Ann tells Ruby under no circumstances is she allowed into the attic.  Ruby can’t help herself and goes to investigate.  A magic carpet hovers and Ruby hops on.  The carpet takes off out the window and Ruby is screaming silently.

Ruby falls asleep and when she awakes she is in an Oasis.  Ruby hasn’t learnt how to control the carpet yet, so covers it with sand in order to find help.  Ruby finds help and then discovers that her carpet has been found and sold to Horas, the conqueror of Oasis.  Everything is not as it seems, there are Genies and little sand creatures called Spriggans.  Ruby finds out she has a whole bunch of relatives and all of them Genies.

Ruby now has the task of recovering her Magic Carpet without being captured.  With the help of her cousin Avalon and her friend Jaffa, they endeavor to break into the palace to steal it back.  Of course it is no easy task.  Will Ruby recover the carpet without casualties?

This was a fantastic story that I highly recommend to all children and adults alike.  Full of adventure, fun and hilarious in the magical items that Jodie has created within her story.  I will certainly be getting the next in the series, The Travellers Telescope, to find out what Ruby discovers next.

eBook Review: Tales from Frewyn: The Reporter from Marridon by Michelle Franklin

Goodreads:  A reporter from Marridon, the advanced and allied nation to the north of Frewyn, is dispatched to Diras to meet with the famous Commander and Den Asaan, heroes and saviors of the Two Continents. It would seem to be a simple task, to ask a few questions of the strange woman and giant, but when the reporter slights the king's personal guard, he finds that getting a story to print may be harder than previously conceived.

This is another humorous account from Michelle Franklin and Tales from Frewyn.  I love this series and all the short stories that are associated with it.  Opera was awesome, so funny and delightful and this is no different.

A reporter from Marridon has heard great things about the Commander and the Den Asaan Rautu.  He doesn’t believe all he hears and thinks it is his duty to discover the truth.  The reporter travels to Frewyn and tries with all his might to bribe the Captain of the army.  Of course being the loyal and law abiding officer that he is, the Captain did not accept and told the report in no uncertain words he is to leave.

The reporter stayed for the night at the church and thought he would try again tomorrow.  Leaving a note with another officer to be delivered to the Commander, hoping she would allow an interview in the morning.  The next morning the Commander has heard about the reporters attempts and thought she would see what the reporter had to say.  How will the Commander react to this Reporter and his questions?  You will have to read it and find out!

I highly recommend all fans of the series to read this short story.  Michelle is amazing and her talent to write short stories with humor and enlightening adventures are awe inspiring.

Oh My Goodness this book is awesome.  This book has it all; it’s a young adult romance with fantasy included, oh so good!

Number two in the trilogy and it is perfectly awesome.  Follows on from number one and leaves it open for number three.  Mina is still coming to terms with losing her best friend and her boyfriend.  She is struggling through her daily life and has made a new friend in Delta.  Delta is helping her cope and giving her a new reason to live.  Mina and her mother still don’t seem to be able to mend their broken relationship and this doesn’t help Mina to break her zombie like routine.

Mina discovers the book Blake gave her under her mattress.  She is crying and opens the book; her tears splash down on the pages and images appear.  Mina doesn’t know if the images are real, but what appears isn’t something that you can imagine.  Mina receives a visit from a friend of Blake’s, confirming the vision she saw.  Everything goes wrong from this point on.  Mina loses the plot and proves how much she truly loves Blake.  With her love proven, she is told she must travel to Egypt to rescue Blake using her love.

Travelling to Egypt with her best friend Delta and her ex-boyfriend Sam, they undertake the toughest scavenger hunt of their lives.  In order to save Blake they must find the temple of Osiris.

This was awesome; I am at a loss for words at how much I loved this book.  Katie M John has the most amazing way of writing this adventure that you can’t help but be drawn in.  The characters evolve with each chapter and Mina discovers how deep love can truly go.  This series is truly one of my favourites and I cannot wait for number three.  Highly recommend to all young adult readers.

Wow, a full action packed book two in the Evan Gabriel trilogy.

This installment follows Gabriel doing routine duty on Mars when one of the Governor’s requests his team to accept a mission to Eden. The planet was given the name because it looks like Eden, perfect, but this planet is anything but! The Governor’s son is kidnapped by a community of Rebels and a whole team of students is taken hostage. Gabriel ready’s his team to embark on a mission that isn’t official. They board their ship and meet with 2 new team members. Gabriel is apprehensive about receiving new members, especially after the last mission.

While the team are traveling and preparing for the mission, ulterior motives are being planned and undertaken. Mars is going under some changes within the Government.

Gabriel acquaints himself with the team and memories of his past mission to Eden come back to haunt him. Eden is full of scary and strange flora and fauna; nobody really understands what is ahead of them. Arriving seems quite normal and they are getting ready to set out when an explosion erupts. This is the first of many challenges the team has to face along the way to find the hostages and bring them back alive. The Rebels have some horrific ideas of how to slow down Gabriel’s team along the trek. Who will have the courage to continue through the unknown jungle to the Rebels before dark?

The way Steve presents the written images and details is so vivid you feel as if you are trekking through the jungle on Eden. His easy flowing way of writing is awesome and I became addicted easily and needed to find out what Gabriel’s next problem was. This series is fantastic and I highly recommend this to all. ~ Katie Turner (The Kindle Book Review)

This is an amazing adventure story for all ages.  The journey that Princess Rose takes with her comrades is both physically and emotionally uplifting for her.

Princess Rose is an only child in the Kingdom and as such is spoilt rotten. She treats all others horribly and demands everyone to follow her orders down to the tee.   When she creates a plan to secure a tooth and demand wishes from the Tooth Fairy, her Jester, Tag, refuses to take part.  Princess Rose decides she is desperate for all she can wish for and still carries on with her plan.  The Tooth Fairy is caught and demands to be free, Princess Rose demands her wishes.  Tooth Fairy becomes human size and takes the Princess to be punished by the King and Queen.  The King being the soft hearted father that he is couldn't bear to punish her and advised the fairy to punish her instead.  The Tooth Fairy placed a curse of her that if she didn't change her ways, she would become what she fears most.  The Tooth Fairy also told her of the Dream Merchant, the only wizard that can grant her wishes in return for a fee.  The wizard gives the Princess a dreamstone that will grant her 3 wishes in 24 hours.

The next morning, Princess discovered that all the staff and her parents couldn't recognise her; they only saw a lowly commoner.  She was chased from the palace grounds and left to fend for herself. Tag discovers the Princess and can see her as she is.  They decide to go on a quest to seek out the Tooth Fairy and find a way to remove the curse.

Befriending the village idiot, Cankles leads them to the Tooth Fairy's castle.  The Tooth Fairy tells them one way to lift the curse is to find the locket that has been left in the Land of Big.  The trio travel through the lands making allies and learning of new cultures and customs.  While traveling, an evil sorcerer discovers the Princess has the dreamstone and wants to steal it.

This is an amazing adventure like no other, full of action but hilarious in the way the characters carry on throughout their journey.  Like the Imago Chronicles, Lorna has the amazing talent to draw the reader into the adventure and make you keep turning the pages.  My favourite character would have to be Cankles; he is stupidly clever and endearing.  I highly recommended this to all readers.

Next in the series is The Dream Merchant: Book Two, The Silver Sword and I can't wait to read it.

eBook Review: The Forest of Adventures by Katie M John

Goodreads: For seventeen year old Mina Singer, falling in love with an Arthurian Knight on a white horse was never part of the plan - especially being that she's an ordinary college girl living in the twenty first century.
As Mina finds herself catapulted into a land she believed only existed in the bedtime stories of her childhood, she soon discovers that Fairyland is not quite as innocent as she imagined.

The question is...who will come out alive?

Haunting, beautiful and sexy, The Forest of Adventures, is a dark romantic quest into the land of true and forbidden love.

What an adventure! This is a wonderful adventure story for young adults. Set in the real world with the addition of fairy tale creatures. It all starts as a seemingly normal romance story, but then will escalate into a fantasy with Knights in shining armour and an evil sorceress, plus magic and myths. This is a wonderful story that is easy to read and it’s a page turner.

Mina Singer is a typical teenager, she is in love with a boy and they have been together for two years. Everything is going to plan until one day a new student arrives at college. Blake is the most handsome boy she has ever seen and is instantly in love with him. Mina has guilty feelings about falling out of love with Sam, she continues to feel and see Blake without anyone knowing. Blake is old school and will not kiss or touch Mina until she has ended things with Sam; this makes him even more honourable in Mina's eyes.

On one eventful evening, Blake was giving Mina a lift home and it was pouring with rain. The traffic was horrible and Blake decided to take another route. His car stalled and wouldn't start because of all the water, so they had to walk to get mobile phone signal. While walking in the forest, Blake was summoned the Morgan, the evil sorceress and asked to go on an adventure to recover a lost relic. Mina couldn't believe her eyes and this was the beginning of her adventure.

I loved this book, the story was easy to follow and the characters weren't complicated. I loved the mix of romance and adventure. I can't wait to read the next in this trilogy, Immortal Beloved (book 2 Knight Trilogy).

Fantastically written first book in the series, I loved it and cannot wait to read the next.  Lorna has an amazing talent to create a world that seems so realist and the characters are so varied.  This story is just amazing and is coming to film.

A Warriors Tale is exactly that, it follows Nayla from her beginning through to her long journey.  Nayla is the only child of the High Elf, Lord Dahlon Treeborn.  As soon as Nayla was born her father has not treated her kindly.  One dreadful night after being punished, an Elf discoveres Nayla and whisks her away to safety.  This first night was the beginning of the rest of her life.  Nayla was taken to the infamous Kagai Warriors and she asked to remain there out of reach of her father.  As she stayed, she watched the Warriors train and became accustomed to their ways.  Nayla is half elf and half mortal, she is neither here nor there and didn’t have the normal abilities of the elf or the short life of a mortal.  Over the time she stayed with the Warriors, Nayla began to train and became a Warrior Maiden.  She was known throughout the land as an awe-inspiring warrior and all wanted to be by her side during battle.

Her tale continues through the ages from bloody battle to bloody battle.  She finds love and wisdom and a brotherhood that lasts for generations.  Nayla accepts her fate and journey’s to find her ancestors and ask for the alliance to be renewed as they are all under attack.  Will Nayla be able to find Wyndwood in time and alive?

Fantastic story; it is so full of action that anyone would admire all of the detailing.  There is love, friendship and hardships all included.  I laughed along with Nayla and cried during her heartaches, it seems so real the way Lorna has written the story.  I highly recommended this book to all fantasy lovers. ~ Katie Turner (The Kindle Book Review)

eBook Review: Tales from Frewyn: The Opera by Michelle Franklin

Goodreads: When due homage is paid to the heroes of Frewyn, what could possibly go wrong?

The Frewyn Players at the Royal Theatre in Diras are looking for new material to perform when a famous director from Marridon arrives to impart a Marridon theatrical pastime that is certain to make them famous. An opera will be their new performance, one that glorifies Frewyn's greatest heroes, but what begins as homage ends as mockery, and the play that would make them the greatest exhibition in Frewyn might instead make them the Den Asaan's most merited enemy.

This is a hilarious short read, but it gives you a look into the lives of the Commander and Den Asaan Rautu as a couple.  This is another beautifully written story by Michelle Franklin.

The Frewyn Players at the Royal Theatre in Diras are creating a performance.  They have decided to do something different from the usual performances they present.  The director decided to tell the love tale of the Commander and Den Asaan Rautu, but he seemed to exaggerate and included a few untruths.  A couple of the Commanders’ men witnessed the poster being put up and had to have a look for themselves.  Upon examining the poster, they discovered the whole thing looked horribly wrong.

The poster was taken to the Commander; they didn’t want to risk the wrath of Den Asaan Rautu.  The Commander thought this production to be a farce and then she went to visit King Alasdair.  He also thought it to be funny and wanted to see the production for himself.  Invitations were handed out and the picture Den Asaan Rautu saw was horrible to him, he demanded to see a pre-screening to make sure everything was above board.

I absolutely loved this and laughed and laughed and laughed.  This is a beautiful take on the couple’s devotion to each other and Den Asaan Rautu’s loyalty and commitment to the Commanders well-being.  Is a must read to all series fans. ~ Katie Turner (The Kindle Book Review)

Khantara is a Haanta conquerer, meant to wage war and rule over the enemy nation of Thellis, but after vanquishing Thellis and occupying a construction of a Haanta outpost, he meets Anelta, a woman enslaved by her own people bearing a brand of servitude on her neck. This was an awesome insight into the beginnings of Den Asaan Rautu’s parents.  Another fantastic book from Michelle Franklin, her style of writing is unlike no other and so easy to read.  I find myself unable to put it down, it is so enjoyable.

Khantara is the title given to a magnificent warrior and lord of war.  Khantara and his 3 students embark on a journey to the mainland to conquer the Thellisians once and for all.  Upon arriving, Khantara’s stature and his intense attitude towards the villager’s makes things go along simply enough.  The Haanta people are setting up an outpost and have started construction on barracks, a temple and Khantara’s abode.  Khantara is very concerned for his people and would rather the stonemason complete the temple or barracks before finalizing his home.  Alas, this didn’t happen and the stonemason has to undertake the wrath of Khantara!  Needless to say, the temple and barracks didn’t take long to be completed.  One afternoon after celebrations had begun; Khantara went for a peaceful walk.  Not far down the road he overheard an argument between a man and a woman.  Khantara hid in the shadows to witness the disagreement and to intervene if need be.  The man left the woman and headed into the village, leaving the woman alone and upset because of his departure.  Khantara approached the woman, trying not to startle her and questioned after her feelings.  Khantara took a quick assessment of her home and surroundings only to find a mark upon her neck.  Anelta explained that the mark is that of a slave and in Thellis she is called one of the Marked.  Her husband is responsible for supplying shelter and food, but only when he likes.  Anelta is starved and has few possessions.

Khantara takes it upon himself to check on Anelta the following day and finds her trying to barter her dresses for money in the marketplace.  He again goes under the darkness of the shadows and follows her.  Khantara takes Anelta’s difficulty to heart and decides that he will take Anelta away from this way of life.

This is a beautiful love story; I really got into the feelings of Khantara and his amazing way with words.  The other parts I really enjoyed were his 3 students or commanders and their brother like mannerisms.  The way they carried on and became concerned for their leader was awesome and I had a laugh on several occasions.  The way Michelle describes Khantara and Anelta’s lovely beginning was marvelous.
