  • The added option is to add your thoughts on the book so far.

Goodnight, Brian by Steven Manchester

My Teaser:

"We argued for a while and then actually shared a good cry....something we should have done a long time ago. In the end, we agreed that whatever the future holds, we have to face it together....as a family. The boy needs...."
~ loc 1120 of 4712 of my Kindle (23%)

My thoughts: I'm only a quarter of the way in, but gee it's such a heart wrenching story;, with a lot of emotion and poor Brian, just a baby with so many challenges! This book is for a blog tour and not something I would typically pick up to read, but being about family and children, thought it would be something different and interesting. So far so good!

Teaser Tuesday #18

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading and slightly altered by Coffee, Books and Lipgloss

The Rules:
• Grab your current read
• Share 2 “teaser” sentences from a random page or a part you rather enjoyed and post it as a teaser.
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away; you don’t want to ruin the book for others!

• As an option, you can give a short snippet of what you think so far... or not.• Share the TITLE and AUTHOR too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.

Mistress to the Crown by Isolde Martyn

My Teaser:

How easily life can flick us. Like an idle boy's fingernail against a tiny fly. We are so fragile, our destinies changed so esasily by a quarrel, a smile, a death - or marriage.
~ loc 121 of 4661 on my Kindle (2%)

My Thoughts: well, I cannot really tell you my opinion because as you can see, I have only just started it today. I have heard good things about this book though and I am excited to get into the story. Have you read Mistress to the Crown? What is your opinion?

What's a Witch to Do? by Jennifer Harlow

My Teaser:

All the colour drains out of Adam's face. I gesture for him to go into the kitchen, and he does. I move to the front door. Taking a deep breath, I open it. Jason Dahl and two other imposing werewolves stand on my porch with matching scowl.
~ page 73 - e-galley

I am really enjoying this book, it is a lot of fun, full of mystery and hot handsome men. I can't wait to see where it goes.

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

My Teaser:

His face was turned toward Zu, who slept between us under a mountain of blankets and was currently the only thing that was keeping me from inching closer to him; from slipping my hand under his bigger one and learning the contents of his dreams.

But the distance between us was there for a reason.

This is fantastic so far, I'm not sure why I kept putting off reading it and I definitely prefer this Australian cover to the US dark one. This is a fantastic YA dystopian fantasy.

The Lost Prince (The Call of the Forgotten #1) by Julie Kagawa

We walked through a long, narrow tunnel, under the ribcage of some giant beast, and entered another cavern. Here, the floor was dotted with large holes, and above us, the ceiling glittered with thousands of tiny crystals, looking like the night sky. A burly fey with an extra arm growing right out of his chest stood guard at the entrance, and eyed us critically as we approached.

"I hate them. And I'll kill them all for a chance at a life like theirs," he said under his breath to Brion, unable to keep his gaze away from the massive shining palace - so different from the modest cottages in Paelsia. 'I don't know what to expect," Rayna said. I could hear the nervousness in her soft voice. At least I wasn't alone in that emotion.
~  56% Exiled (The Protector #1) by M.R. Merrick

Goodreads Summary: Chase Williams is a demon hunter in the Circle, or at least he was supposed to be. On his fifteenth birthday, Chase stepped up to the altar to claim his elemental power, but it never came. Elemental magic is passed down to a hunter through the bloodline, but on Chase's birthday, the bloodline stopped.
Exiled without the Circle's protection, Chase has spent two years trying to survive a world riddled with half-demons and magic. When he has a run in with a frightened and seemingly innocent demon, he learns the Circle's agenda has changed: the Circle plans to unlock a portal and unleash pure-blood demons into the world. Vowing to stop them, and knowing he can't do it alone, Chase forms a reluctant alliance with Rayna — a sexy witch with an attitude and a secret.
In their attempt to stop them, Chase and Rayna find themselves in the middle of the Circle's plan, leaving one of them to decide what their friendship is worth, and the other's life depending on it.

Goodreads Summary: 1961: On a sweltering summer's day, while her family picnics by the stream on their Suffolk farm, sixteen-year-old Laurel hides out in her childhood tree house dreaming of a boy called Billy, a move to London, and the bright future she can't wait to seize. But before the idyllic afternoon is over, Laurel will have witnessed a shocking crime that changes everything.2011: Now a much-loved actress, Laurel finds herself overwhelmed by shades of the past. Haunted by memories, and the mystery of what she saw that day, she returns to her family home and begins to piece together a secret history. A tale of three strangers from vastly different worlds - Dorothy, Vivien and Jimmy - who are brought together by chance in wartime London and whose lives become fiercely and fatefully entwined.Shifting between the 1930s, the 1960s and the present, The Secret Keeper is a spellbinding story of mysteries and secrets, theatre and thievery, murder and enduring love.

My Teaser:

Her head spun, all woozy-like, and she was glad she was already sitting. She could watch Old Mac take the heads off chooks, no worries; she'd held her brother Pippin's severed fingertip all the way to Doc Farrell's place after it got chopped off by the axe; she gutted fish faster and cleaner than Robert when they camped down by Nerang River. Faced with her own blood, though, she was worse than useless.
